Mental-health difficulties can develop long before life visibly falls apart.

Anxiety, depression, attention difficulties, burnout, or recurring patterns can interfere with work, relationships, and daily functioning even when a person continues to appear capable from the outside.

Psychiatric care may involve careful medication evaluation, psychotherapy, or attention to the broader circumstances in which symptoms occur. The appropriate approach depends on the individual, their goals, and the clinical context.

A psychiatric practice designed for more than one treatment pathway

Sattva Psychiatry was developed to support medication-focused care as well as psychotherapy integrated within the same psychiatric relationship.

Medication management

Psychiatric assessment and medication treatment may be appropriate when prescribing is the primary need, including for people already working with a therapist.

Psychotherapy with psychiatric treatment

Psychotherapy and medication can sometimes be provided within one treatment relationship when that approach is clinically appropriate.

These descriptions reflect the practice model. New-patient scheduling is currently paused, and no waiting list or reopening date is being maintained.

Treatment begins with what a person wants to understand or change.

The practice approach considers both the symptoms bringing someone to treatment and the life in which those symptoms occur. Relevant patterns may involve stress, work, relationships, uncertainty, expectations, or the interaction between mental and physical health.

Medication can be valuable when carefully selected. Psychotherapy, sleep, movement, substance use, technology habits, behavioral patterns, and other aspects of daily life may also be relevant, depending on the person and their goals.

About Vivek Jayadeva, MD

Dr. Jayadeva is board-certified in psychiatry and pain medicine and was trained in both medication management and psychotherapy.

Earlier experience in holistic health, bodywork, nutrition, mindfulness, and movement also shaped his understanding of the relationship between mental health, the body, behavior, and daily functioning.

He created Sattva Psychiatry as a small physician-led practice where these perspectives could be integrated without reducing care to a brief prescription encounter or a fixed wellness program.
