Services
Psychiatric evaluation and medication care.
Private telepsychiatry for adults seeking careful psychiatric evaluation, medication consultation, medication management, or clearer treatment direction.
Sattva Psychiatry provides outpatient telepsychiatry for adults located in New York, Washington, DC, or Virginia at the time of appointment. Care is provided directly by Vivek Jayadeva, MD, a board-certified psychiatrist.
Whole-person psychiatric consultation
Treatment decisions are made in context.
A psychiatric consultation may look beyond symptoms alone to consider sleep, stress load, medical history, nutrition, medication response, side effects, attention patterns, work demands, relationships, and daily routines.
This broader view can be useful when symptoms are persistent, confusing, partially improved, or difficult to separate from life context.
Recommendations may include medication options, medication adjustments, simplification of a current regimen, therapy coordination, medical follow-up with a primary care clinician when appropriate, and evidence-informed lifestyle or supplement considerations.
Appointment types
Available psychiatric services.
Comprehensive psychiatric evaluation
A new patient evaluation reviews the current concern, psychiatric history, medical factors, medication history, symptoms, functioning, safety, and treatment goals.
The visit is used to clarify diagnosis, identify the main treatment target, review treatment options, and determine whether ongoing psychiatric treatment at Sattva is appropriate.
Follow-up psychiatric treatment
Follow-up visits review symptoms, medication response, side effects, functioning, safety, and next steps.
Over time, treatment focuses on understanding the pattern clearly enough that medication decisions become more precise and care can be revised when needed.
Extended follow-up visit
Extended follow-up visits may be used when more time is needed to review medication response, side effects, new symptoms, treatment uncertainty, or a more substantial change in the care plan.
This format may also be useful when the clinical picture has shifted and the treatment plan needs more careful revision than a shorter follow-up allows.
Common reasons for care
Concerns that may bring adults to psychiatric care.
Anxiety and rumination
Evaluation may be helpful when worry, panic, avoidance, irritability, physical tension, or rumination are affecting work, relationships, sleep, or daily functioning.
Mood and motivation
Care may address depression, low energy, loss of interest, emotional heaviness, difficulty concentrating, or changes in motivation that interfere with functioning.
Sleep, stress, and burnout
Sleep disruption, burnout, chronic stress, and changes in functioning can affect mood, anxiety, attention, and medication decisions.
Attention concerns
Attention problems can reflect ADHD, anxiety, sleep disruption, burnout, depression, medical contributors, medication effects, or a mismatch between cognitive style and daily demands.
Medication questions
Some patients seek care because prior medications caused side effects, helped only partially, became difficult to interpret, or no longer seem well matched to current goals.
Treatment uncertainty
Evaluation can help clarify diagnosis, review prior treatment response, and identify whether medication, therapy coordination, medical follow-up, or another step may be useful.
Sattva Psychiatry is a focused adult outpatient practice offering telepsychiatry, psychiatric consultation, and non-controlled psychiatric medication treatment for patients located in New York, Washington, DC, or Virginia.
